“Unquiet Voices” Workshop #1 with L’Merchie Frazier

In conjunction with the live, invitational exhibition “Violence Transformed: Unquiet Voices”

Location:  Menino Arts Center, 26 Central Ave, Hyde Park, MA 02136
Workshop Date & Time: Wednesday, October 20, 2022 | 6:30-8:00 PM

Join L’Merchie Frazier, Director, TAP Creative Engagement, in a one & a half hour workshop in the gallery of the Menino Arts Center, Hyde Park, MA. Surrounded by art from the “Unquiet Voices” exhibit, L’Merchie will lead workshop participants in the creation of Hope Scrolls. Hope scrolls are symbolic of petitions used since the early 1600’s in America as a form of protest for change, for rights and access necessary for survival. The Hope Scrolls workshop was created to use the power of art to reveal unheard voices and to share our stories.

Workshop participants will embody mindfulness, storytelling and art-making in the form of collage: made with simple, available resources to fabricate and produce colorful artworks designed with hope in mind. Each participant will have the opportunity to not only give voice to troubling times and to truths that are often denied but to connect with their hope for our futures as well.
